The EJUVA
Cleanse
by Fabienne Alsing B.A., AcM., M.B.Ac.C.
I recently completed the four-week EJUVA internal cleanse
and I must say it is probably one of the most beneficial
single steps I have taken on my journey towards vibrant
health and enlightenment of my Bodymindspirit. I felt
exceedingly well throughout the whole cleansing process,
apart from the odd attack of low blood sugar when I left it
too long between juice shakes. and the best way to describe
how I feel since completing the cleanse is nourished,
revitalized and cleaner inside. I have had a lot more energy
as well as vitality and zest for life. Mentally, I feel
peaceful and emotionally, I have been in more control and
able to respond to my surroundings with greater love,
acceptance and understanding.
To explain a bit about my background, 1 have been involved
with Complementary Health for more than a decade and have a
holistic approach to my work as well as to my life. I have
also always felt that in order to help others on their path.
I first have to help and work on myself and so, as one of my
clients put it recently. "I walk my talk."
The decision to do the EJUVA cleanse came after years of
other physical, mental, emotional and spiritual inner work,
which included making my way towards a life giving
nutritional intake of food, as opposed to what used to make
me ill or less than healthy. I have eaten only organic food
and drank either distilled or filtered water for a very long
time. I don’t drink tea, coffee or any alcohol worth
mentioning, I gave Up wheat and dairy products several years
ago. became a vegetarian about two years ago and since
January 2001 I have been getting increasingly raw.
Having read extensively on the subject of cleansing, I was
aware of the terminology "Mucoid Plaque" - an expression used
amongst experienced cleansers to describe hardened mucus
combined with old physical. mental and eniotional toxins
stored in the digestive tract, and eliminated through an
effective deep cleanse. When I decided to do the cleanse, I
realized that I probably would have stored up a fair amount
of toxic matter from my earlier thirty-or-so years of what I
now personally consider unhealthy eating. But I never
expected reams and reams of Mucoid Plaque to be eliminated
from what I thought was my reasonably healthy digestive
system.
The Mucoid Plaque - very desciptive name for it by the way -
was just like the pictures in the books; hard and rubbery,
squiggly and stringy and in colors varying from green or
grey and beige to dark brown or indeed at times black and
shiny. I had great fun examining it!
And, listen to this: It has been at least fifteen years
since 1 drank my last cup of coffee. Nevertheless, at the
onset of my second week of the cleanse (so still in the mild
phase) what came out of me had a strong distinct smell of
coffee for two days. This has to mean that already early on
in the cleansing process I was getting rid of
FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD-STUFF!
Even though I spared them the gory details, when my partner
and my thirteen- year-old son saw the effects the cleansing
had on me, they also decided to do it for themselves. My son
did a modified version to fit in with his teenage busy
schedule of sports activities and schoolwork but has still
got rid of a lot, and has found it beneficial to his health
and vitality. My partner, however, is just completing his
full cleanse and found it so helpful that he decided to
extend the juice fast for an extra week and a half. All
three of us are excited about doing another cleanse when the
winter is over.
I decided to do my cleanse in the autumn, which is the peak
time for letting go- outside in nature as well as within our
bodies. In autumn, our colon has the roost energy and works
the most efficiently. That is not to say that one cannot
cleanse at any time of year, although I probably wouldn’t
recommend anyone to cleanse during the winter, which is
naturally a time for rest. Autumn or spring is best in my
opinion.
I made my own juice during the cleanse, using fresh fruit,
vegetables and cereal grasses, which I feel is a vital part
of the program. Freshly made juice contains necessary
nutrients such as vitamins and enzymes but also vital
energy. which help prevent depletion.
I also found using pure water enemas from time to time very
helpful both during and after the cleanse.
I have to say though that I feel that in the long run, the
benefits of any cleanse is only as great as the way we
follow it up, once the cleanse is completed.
Secondly, a cleanse, in my opinion is only as good as the
ingredients from which it is made up. After all, it is
supposed to cleanse our Bodymindspirits, not add to the
pollution. When I was looking for a cleansing program. I
therefore undertook a lot of research into what is available
on the market and I also spoke to many colleagues and
experts in the field. In order to find a product that
measured up to my astringent ciiteria of purity and quality
as well as using a holistic approach EJUVA was the only
program I could find, which matched my expectations
EJUVA uses organically grown, raw, life-giving herbs and
ingredients from what the producer feels happy to say are
safe, uncontaminated sources. To me, the herbs felt as if
they were providing me with the nourishment that I needed.
They were gentle on my body and at the same time very
effective in eliminating accumulated waste and toxins.
The Probiotic powder in the EJUVA kit contains a balanced
formula of the various Bifidobacteria as well as Lacto
Acidophilus, specially chosen for human absorption and has
been developed specifically to nourish and re-balance the
entire gastro- intestinal tract.
The ‘Vibram’ oil included in the kit as a skin elixir to
assist emotional cleansing and elimination of heavy metals
from the body is no less than exquisite. The oil is made up
of Himalayan Rose and various vibrational flower essences
and both smells and feels luxurious and wonderful. A real
treat for the cleanser and the people around them.
Unlike some other cleansing programs on the market, EJUVA
uses a blend of Psyllium husk, Chia and Flax Seeds and
Slippeiy Elm powder as a highly effective and all-natural
foodstuff stimulant and carrier, to aid the toxins released
by the herbs, out of the body.
Some cleansing programs I came across during my search not
only sterilize their ingredients but also use some
unnecessarily harsh and astringent herbs as well as using
Bentonite clay as a carrier. Having discovered for myself
the benefits of eating raw food, I did not wish to use herbs
which had been sterilized and although some experienced
cleansers swear by Bentonite clay. I personally did not feel
happy about putting it into my body, both because of its
very drying effect on the digestive tract and also because
of its high aluminum content. As for the use of heavily
astringent herbs, my experience is that a healing process is
usually more effective if it uses a gentle approach.
For anyone wanting more information on cleansing or anyone
interested in their own healing and development process. 1
would highly recommend Richard Anderson’s 'Cleanse and
Purify Thyself’ books one and two. The book gives a lot of
very interesting information and I cannot help but admiring
Richard Anderson for his honest and sincere dedication to
his work and to the subject of cleansing, (although l
wouldn’t personally use Richard Artderson's own cleanse for
some of the reasons mentioned above).
Six Months Later
It is now six months since doing our first cleanse and
subsequently writing the above article. During this time I
have made some observations which I feel may he of interest
to the readers of this article.
I personally can honestly say that although this winter has
been extremely busy for me with a lot ofexciting yet
challenging issues to find solutions to in my workplace as
well as in my home life, I feel that I have coped with this
in a much calmer and more efficient way than I used to. I
have had oodles of energy and inspiration to tackle issues
which have needed my attention for some time but have been
left in the past, hoping they would go away or sort
themselves Out. I have felt alot more able both to trust in
the process and also to enjoy and appreciate the simple
pleasures of life which we too often ignore or take for
granted.
My partner has seemed much more relaxed, positive and
energetic since doing the cleanse and whereas he would
previously insist that he needed a lot of stodgy
carbohydrate foods to keep his energy up (which in fact in
my opinion reduced his energy), he now prefers raw,
life-giving light nutritious meals. He asked for a Rebounder
for Christmas and whereas before, it would take him a long
time to come to in the morning, he is now up before the rest
of us, drinking his water and jumping on his Rebounder every
morning before his shower.
My Son came shopping at Sainsbury’s with me the other day.
They had some healthy looking organic chickens on the shelf
which he would have normally gone for. Instead, he informed
me that he didn’t feel like eating meat anymore and that he
would prefer a bit of fish and otherwise vegetarian foods.
On the occasions when I have offered to make him a cooked
breakfast, he has more often than riot said that he would
prefer a fresh fruit salad. He has also experienced more
energy and he has started to manage his time in a much more
efficient way, as opposed to wanting to rush around, and do
what seemed to me like too many things. He now never watches
TV and when he goes on the computer, it is generally to do
his homework or look for specific things of interest on the
internet. He has decided to do a full cleanse with us this
time but make sure the last two weeks of it falls in his
Easter holidays when he also has a break from his extra
curricular sports and other activities.
Another huge break through for him which was admittedly not
directly related to the cleanse but seemed worth mentioning
anyway, seemed to be when one day it occurred to me to
mention to him that the tiredness and mood swings he was
feeling sounded very much like I feel before a period.
Looking at it in this way, as a normal reaction to the
hormonal changes which are taking place in his teenage body,
took his fear out of the situation for him and helped him to
relax about things and enjoy his life more
We have now started our second cleanse and one of our
friends, as well as three of my clients are also cleansing
with us this time. It makes it a lot more fun to have some
mutual support around it, someone to share ones feelings and
findings with, and it can also be reassuring for first time
cleansers to be in contact with someone who has been through
it all themselves before. I would therefore be more than
happy to help anyone with initial support and answering
further questions.
